East Coast and Vegas People

Its one thing to visit Las Vegas and go home and say how nice the people are here - But I've lived here 8 years and I among many other transplants find its hard to really make a good friend and bond with people from Las Vegas . They think we are invading their space and ruining their land - as if it wasnt tainted before any of us Easterners got here !!! Is there anyone out there that are from back east and feel alienated ?? If you talk with a New York accent - people do look down and think your in the mafia or something or maybe your not as intellectual as they are - when in essence we are highly educated and street smart with a great amout of common sense behind us that no one can take away. Right away they become Suspect as to what we are up to and think we are going to Get them!! they quickly become defensive and prevents any kind of friendship to form. Being judgemental is not one of my stronger traits so everyone has a oppurtunity to prove him/herself before forming an opinion . What a difference in culture and upbringing there is as far as geographically speaking and upbringing . Is there anyone out there with the same experience as me ???
